Passes several directions to all the departments with regard to water supply, street lights, traffic Management, Health services, fire and emergency services , PDD amd others.
A meeting of all the senior officers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and other departments was held under the Chairmanship of Mayor Srinagar Mr Junaid Azim Mattu here at central office Karan Nagar.
The meeting that focused at preparation and arrangement of upcoming Moharam-ul-haram was attended by Commissioner SMC Mr Athar Amir Khan , Chairman Public Health and Sanitation Committee Mr Arif Raja , Joint Commissioner Adm,Joint Commissioner Works, SMC, Joint Director Fire and Emergency Services, Secretary SMC, SP Traffic, Municipal Veterinary Officer,CMO Srinagar, ZMO Zadibal, ZMO Batamaloo,Xens from SMC, PDD, CDD, Drainage Circle, Xen MCD Srinagar,Xen ED II KPDCL, Xen PHE Jal Shakti , Xen City Roads, AEES and others.
Mayor at the outset of meeting enjoined upon officers that a collaborative effort is required from all the concerned departments to make the Mohharam processions smooth ,successful and peaceful .
Mayor regarding uninterrupted supply of water on the days of Mohharam especially on Ashura passed directions to the concerned to press enough water tankers into service near Imambargah’s especially at Zadibal , Bemina and Hassnabad where large congregational gatherings are being held and also stressed to provide water tankers services to Mohharam specific areas as and when required.
Directions were also passed to the electric wing of SMC to inspect the functionality all street lights and go for restoration of defunct street lights and to ensure installation of additional Mohharam specific street lights in all the Shia specific areas, the procession routes and Imambarah’s where processions and prayers will be held.
The officials from the Health department were directed that besides organizing Medical Camps outside the imambargah’s at Bemina, Hassnabad, Zadibal, Zewan, Panderethan and other Mohharam specific places ,the additional medical first aid facilities along with availability of Ambulances has to be put in place and these camps shall have enough staff with enough medical Supplies at these locations so that these services can be availed as and when required.
Mayor also directed PDD to ensure that no low lying LT wires should be hanging anywhere , the procession routes shall be proactively inspected to ensure complete safety of people participating in processions.
The directions were also given to Traffic department to prepare and workout a traffic plan both for surroundings of the Imambargah’s and procession route map so that several measures will be taken to tackle the parking issue on the day of Ashura especially at Alamgari Bazar and Hassnabad where large processions are being held.
Meanwhile Commissioner SMC Mr Athar Amir Khan in a meeting also directed all the ward officers to keep a close liaison with the general public, intizamia committee of the shia specific areas to address their problems on priority , further stressing to upkeep sanitation in these areas and also to conduct extensive sanitation drives twice in these areas these days.
The Municipal Veterinary Officer on the occasion was directed to keep a strict vigil on stray dogs and keep ready Dog catching squad for management of dogs in these areas.
