Janipur bribery case: PSI, Head Constable suspended after inquiry

Jammu: Police have suspended Probationary Sub-Inspector (PSI) Danish Habib and Head Constable Beddi Singh following a departmental inquiry into an alleged bribery case at Police Station Janipur. PSI Danish Habib was arrested by the CBI on August 16 for allegedly accepting a ₹10,000 bribe in connection with a domestic dispute case.
The inquiry reportedly found the involvement of Head Constable Beddi Singh, who was serving as Munshi at the police station. Authorities alleged that the complainant’s husband was pressured to pay money to avoid arrest, prompting him to approach the CBI. Following a trap operation, the PSI was allegedly caught while accepting the bribe.
Both officials have been placed under suspension pending legal and departmental proceedings. The action underscores the police department’s stated policy of zero tolerance towards corruption and misconduct.
