Two Drug Addicts Apprehended by Awantipora Police, Shifted to Rehabilitation Centre
Awantipora, May 21-:-In a significant step towards combating drug abuse, Awantipora Police apprehended two drug consumers during a routine patrol near Dangerpora-Padgampora Crossing on Tuesday.
The operation was led by SHO Police Station Awantipora, Dy.SP (Probationer) Atif Zahoor. The suspects were found in suspicious circumstances and were questioned by the patrolling team. During the preliminary investigation, both individuals admitted to being regular drug users.
The duo was subsequently shifted to the Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre in Tral, where medical tests confirmed drug consumption.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, son of Ab Gani Bhat, resident of Awantipora, and Rehan Fayaz Mir, son of Fayaz Ahmad Mir, resident of Iqbal Colony, Awantipora.
A case under FIR number 117/2025 has been registered against them under relevant sections of the law at Police Station Awantipora.
Awantipora Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the area and urged the public to cooperate by reporting any suspicious activities related to drug abuse.
