*Anantnag Police Cracks Down on Illegal Mining; Three Tractors Seized in Kokernag*
Anantnag, 21 May 2026:
Continuing its drive against illegal mining activities across the district, Anantnag Police seized three tractors involved in illegal extraction and transportation of mining material from Bringi Nallah near Sofshali, Kokernag.
The action was carried out by Police Station Kokernag during routine patrolling and checking in the area. The vehicles were found engaged in unauthorized extraction and transportation of mining material, following which they were seized on the spot.
In this connection, Case FIR No. 53/2026 under relevant Sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kokernag and investigation has been taken up.
Anantnag Police reiterates its commitment towards curbing illegal mining activities and taking strict legal action against violators involved in exploitation of natural resources.
