*Anantnag Police Intensifies Crackdown on Drug Peddlers; Two Arrested, Contraband Substances Recovered*

*Anantnag, 23 October 2026:
Continuing its crackdown against drug peddling, Anantnag Police apprehended two persons in separate operations in Bijbehara and Srigufwara areas and recovered suspected contraband substances from their possession.

**Recovery in Bijbehara:** During patrolling in the Jablipora area, a police party from Police Station Bijbehara apprehended a person identified as Usman Ahmed Mir, S/o Late Zahoor Ahmed, R/o Batengoo, Bijbehara, at Fruit Mandi. During his search, 7.6 grams of a heroin was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 318/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara, and investigation has been taken up.

**Recovery in Srigufwara:** In another operation, a police naka party from Police Station Srigufwara, during naka checking at Hittigam Crossing, apprehended Bilal Ahmad Lone, S/o Gh. Ahmad Lone, R/o K. Kalan, and recovered approximately 18 grams of a charas from his possession. In this regard, FIR No. 105/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Srigufwara, and further investigation is underway.

Anantnag Police reiterates its commitment to intensifying action against drug peddlers and urges the public to cooperate with the police in the collective fight against the drug menace.
