Anantnag, 24 May 2026: Continuing its sustained efforts against the menace of drug trafficking, Anantnag Police achieved a significant success in Bijbehara by registering two separate NDPS cases and recovering a substantial quantity of contraband substance.
During routine naka checking at Rakh Nowbug, a police party from Police Station Bijbehara apprehended one drug peddler identified as Umar Rasheed Ganie S/o Abdul Rasheed Ganie R/o Nowbug Bijbehara. During his search, 295 grams of charas powder-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, FIR No. 137/2026 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up.
In another operation, acting on a specific tip-off, a police party from Police Post Sangam conducted a search at the residence of Bashir Ahmad Dar S/o Amma Dar R/o Natipora. During the search, approximately 2.970 kilograms of charas powder-like contraband substance was recovered from the residential premises.
In this regard, FIR No. 136/2026 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation has been set into motion.
