*Drug-Free Pulwama : Two Drug Peddlers Arrested in Pulwama*

Heroin-Like Substance Recovered FIR Registered Writing

Pulwama, May 25, : Continuing its intensified crackdown against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Pulwama Police achieved a significant success by arresting two drug peddlers and recovering a substantial quantity of heroin-like contraband substance in the district.

According to police officials, a naka checking was established by Police Post Parigam at Parigam Khalsa. During the checking, a scooty bearing registration number JK13H-6074, travelling from Lerve towards Parigam, was intercepted for routine inspection.

During the search operation, police apprehended two persons travelling on the vehicle who were later identified as Mohd Aslam Malik, son of Mohd Yousuf Malik, resident of Hanji Mohallah Bongam Kakapora, and Nasir Ahmad Dar, son of Mohd Shafi Dar, resident of New Colony Kakapora.

Police said that during the search of the accused, approximately 273 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. The contraband substance was seized on the spot and both accused were immediately taken into custody.

In this regard, FIR No. 99/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pulwama and investigation has been initiated to ascertain the forward and backward linkages of the narcotics network operating in the area.

Pulwama Police reiterated its firm resolve to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and stated that strict action will continue against those involved in drug peddling and substance abuse. The police also appealed to the general public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing any information related to drug trafficking or narcotics activities in their localities.

The sustained anti-drug campaign launched by Jammu and Kashmir Police under Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan continues to yield positive results across the district, reflecting the department’s commitment towards building a drug-free society.(KNT)
