Drass, Jul 26 : Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Dhiraj Seth, on Sunday paid homage to the martyrs of the 1999 Kargil War, saying their supreme sacrifice will continue to inspire generations while asserting that Indian Army warriors remain unmatched by any soldiers in the world.
Addressing the Vijay Diwas commemoration at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass, General Seth, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said visiting the memorial filled him with “renewed energy and immense pride.”
He paid tributes to the soldiers who laid down their lives during the Kargil conflict and expressed deep gratitude to their families for their sacrifices.
“The Indian Army’s warrior stands unmatched by any soldier of any army in the world,” General Seth said, lauding the courage, professionalism and unwavering commitment of Indian soldiers.
The Army Chief also welcomed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s presence at the commemorative event, describing it as a lasting source of inspiration for the Armed Forces.
Recalling the bravery of the fallen soldiers, he shared a poem written by a soldier from his own unit, saying it reflected the spirit of supreme sacrifice and selfless devotion to duty.
Reaffirming the Armed Forces’ commitment to the nation, General Seth said the Indian Army stands firmly with the people and remains fully dedicated to protecting the country’s sovereignty, security and progress.
Expressing confidence in the Armed Forces, he said they would continue to uphold the nation’s honour and ensure that the Tricolour flies even higher in the years ahead.—(KNO)
