Srinagar: NITI Aayog Reports 5% Decrease in National Poverty; Rural and Urban Prosperity on the Rise

In a recent announcement, NITI Aayog has revealed a noteworthy 5% reduction in poverty across the country, signaling a positive trend in both rural and urban areas. CEO BVR Subramaniam highlighted findings from the latest Consumer Expenditure Survey, indicating a significant decline in poverty rates and an overall improvement in living standards nationwide.

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Subramaniam emphasized the long-awaited insights provided by the survey, shedding light on household expenditure data. This comprehensive assessment not only offers valuable insights into the poverty situation but also evaluates the efficacy of poverty alleviation efforts.

Released by the Office of the National Sample Survey under the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, the survey underscores a promising shift in household expenditure patterns. Comparing data from 2022-23 to 2011-12, per capita monthly household expenditure has shown a notable decrease, indicative of enhanced economic well-being.
