MeT forecast mainly dry weather for now in J&K

Says 75% Possibility Of Rain, Snow Over Higher, Middle Reaches From Nov 1 to 4

Srinagar, Oct 27 : Weatherman on Thursday forecast mainly dry weather for now and light to moderate rain and snowfall over middle and higher reaches of J&K during November 1 to 4.

โ€œAs per today’s conditions, weather will be cloudy with possibility of light to moderate rain/snowfall over middle and higher reaches during 1st Nov onwards till 4th at isolated to scattered places of J&K (forecast confidence upto75%),โ€ a meteorological department official said here, adding, โ€œNo heavy spell is expected during this spell.โ€

Regarding the temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 4.0ยฐC against 4.7ยฐC on the previous night. The temperature was 0.2ยฐC above normal for the summer capital during this time of the year, he said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 3.2ยฐC against 3.4ยฐC on the previous night. The temperature was 0.1ยฐC below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 0.3ยฐC, the same as on the previous night and it was 0.2ยฐC below normal for the south Kashmir resort, he said.

Kokernag recorded a low of 5.4ยฐC against 5.7ยฐC on the previous night and it was normal for the place, he said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 1.0ยฐC against 1.5ยฐC on the previous night and it was 1.4ยฐC below normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmirโ€™s Baramulla district.

In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 2.6ยฐC against 2.8ยฐC on the previous night, the official said. It was 0.6ยฐC below normal for the north Kashmir place, he said.

Jammu recorded a low of 14.6ยฐC against 14.5ยฐC on the previous night. It was 2.1ยฐC below normal for J&Kโ€™s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 4.6ยฐC (below normal by 0.9ยฐC), Batote 7.7ยฐC (0.7ยฐC below normal), Katra 14.0ยฐC (above normal by 0.3ยฐC) and Bhadarwah 5.6ยฐC (above normal byย 0.2ยฐC).ย (GNS)
