*Fisheries department Shines Again*
*Receives F1 hybrid Pure strain( Brown Trout) from Denmark*

In order to become the feeding channel for the brown trout in valley Kulgam district has become the first district to receive the much awaited & most popular staking of Rain bow trout & Brown trout from Denmark today at Tschanser Trout Hatchery.
This was revealed by Assistant Director Fisheries Shabir Ahmad Shabir.
The Department of Fisheries Kulgam who Procured genetically improved germplasm of Rainbow trout and brown trout from Denmark he added.
On the occasion the AD Fisheries Fisheries Apprised the DDC Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan that the said procurement is genetically improved strains of brown trout from Denmark and successfully implanted them in Trout Fish Farm Tschanser for the first time in a century.
The germplasm will be reared in the hatchery house chanser under controlled conditions and stocked in the freshwater streams of the district and elsewhere in every nook and corner of the UT he added.
District Development Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan (IAS) on the occasion said that we envisage that District Kulgam should be pioneering in Trout Angling as we have picturesque fresh water streams like Ahrabal stream and Veshow stream and its tributaries.
The stocking of these streams and subsequent sport fishing will make Kulgam a major contributor to eco-tourism he added.
AD Fisheries Shabir Ahmad Shabir said that there was a need to procure the germplasm in order to tackle the genetic depression of the existing rainbow trout. He further said that the consignment was received and implanted following the designated protocol.
The officials have been advised to take utmost care for effective management of the germplasm so that pure and viable line of germplasm shall be maintained for futher stocking of the streams in the District the press release reads.
