The Union Home Ministry has approved deployment of 670 CAPF companies for security of the 57-day Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra beginning from July 3. Officials said this will be the biggest-ever paramilitary deployment for the annual pilgrimage.

Security forces will be deployed from Lakhanpur to the holy cave shrine, covering Baltal and Pahalgam routes, Nunwan and Baltal base camps, Yatri Niwas Jammu, highways and key transit points. The Army, J&K Police and CAPFs will jointly oversee security arrangements while anti-terror operations will continue simultaneously.

Authorities will also enhance security along the Jammu-Srinagar railway track, especially on routes connected to Vande Bharat trains. Over 3.5 lakh pilgrims have already registered for this yearโ€™s yatra, which will conclude on August 28 on Raksha Bandhan and Sawan Purnima.
