Hazratbal Fire Incident: Waqf board orders time-bound inquiry, constitutes 4-member committee

Srinagar, Apr 17 : Following the massive blaze that damaged six residential houses and a shopping complex, the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board Monday ordered the constitution of a committee to enquire into the fire incident of Waqf property at Hazratbal Srinagar.

In a directive issued by the J&K Waqaf board on Tuesday, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), it cited the serious allegations of illegal transfer of its property at Hazratbal Srinagar in the past.

“In addition to the enquiry into the complaints of alleged negligence leading to the fire incident, the committee shall also peruse the history of allotment of property & allegations of unauthorized transfer of the instant property, and submit its report alongwith recommendations within a period of 10 days positively for the perusal of the Hon’ble Chairperson and further necessary action,” reads the directive—(KNO)
