Dhaatu Mitra club celebrates National Metallurgist Day at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar, Nov 16: In a spirited celebration of National Metallurgist Day, Dhaatu Mitra, the official club of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MME) at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.

The event featured a diverse range of activities, including a challenging quiz, a creative drawing competition, an eloquent extempore session, and a research poster competition.

Students enthusiastically participated, demonstrating their profound knowledge of metallurgy and their creative flair.

Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr) Sudhakar Yedla, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He appreciated Dhaatu Mitra for organizing an event that not only celebrated the significance of National Metallurgist Day but showcased the talents and expertise of MME community.

He emphasized the importance of such events in promoting innovation and camaraderie among students.

Prof. Yedla lauded the efforts of Dhaatu Mitra in providing a platform for students to showcase their talents and explore the vast realm of metallurgy beyond the classroom.

The event was attended by all the faculty members of MMED and HOD Prof Atikur Rahman, faculty coordinators Dr. Nitika Kundan and Dr Anshul Gupta.

The quiz tested the participants’ theoretical knowledge, the drawing competition allowed them to express their creativity, the extempore session showcased their ability to think on their feet, and the research poster competition highlighted their research and analytical skills.

Prof. Yedla also highlighted the importance of such events in promoting innovation and camaraderie. Later he along with other dignitaries presented the awards to the Winners including Akeel and Asif for Quiz, Hameem Habib for Extempore and Research Poster Competition, Berzish for Drawing Competition.

Dhaatu Mitra’s successful execution of the event reflects their commitment to excellence in metallurgy and their dedication to nurturing a collaborative spirit within the MME community at NIT Srinagar.

The event not only celebrated the achievements of the students but also reinforced the club’s role as a catalyst for academic and creative growth.
