
Sikh Coordination Committee J&K Files FIR Against Social Media Offender for Disparaging Comments on Baisakhi
Srinagar, April 14, 2024: In response to derogatory remarks made on social media platforms targeting Sikh women during the celebratory occasion of Baisakhi, the Sikh Coordination Committee in Jammu and Kashmir has taken a resolute stand by lodging a formal complaint with Police Station Rainawari.
The incident, which drew widespread condemnation from the Society especially sikh community, prompted members of the Sikh Coordination Committee to take immediate action. They proceeded to the Rainawari police station to register their formal complaint and request the initiation of legal proceedings against the perpetrator.
Upon arrival at the police station, the Committee members were received by the Station House Officer (SHO), who attentively listened to their grievances. Despite the sensitive nature of the issue, the SHO demonstrated empathy and understanding towards the Committee’s concerns.
Following a thorough examination of the complaint, the police authorities swiftly registered FIR number 14/2024 against the accused individual. This decisive step signifies the commitment of law enforcement agencies to address instances of online hate speech and ensure accountability for those responsible.
