Streets of Srinagar illuminate with tricolour lightening ahead of Independence Day
As the nation gears up for the celebration of Independence Day on Thursday, the streets of Jammu and Kashmirโs Srinagar are illuminated with tricolour lightening.
India will be commemorating its 78th Independence Day, this year.
The bridge on the Chenab River in J-Kโs Doda is also illuminated with tricolour lightning ahead of the national festival on August 15.
Meanwhile, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organised a โHar Ghar Tirangaโ walkathon in Srinagar on Wednesday.
The people were seen holding flags while participating in the walkathon.
Meanwhile, the streets of Jammu and Kashmirโs Srinagar and the bridge on the Chenab River in Doda are illuminated with tricolour lightning ahead of the national festival on August 15.
Earlier on Tuesday, a Tiranga Rally was taken out with a 750-metre-long tricolour on the worldโs highest railway bridge on the Chenab River in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Providing details of the event, Reasi Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan, said, โWe wanted to present the pride and respect we have for our country.
This tricolour flag is made by the locals in just 2 days. We wanted to display the tricolour as the pride of the country on the worldโs highest railway bridge to show the world our love for the nation.
A tricolour of almost 750 metres has been displayed at the railway bridge on the Chenab River.โ
Earlier, it was reported that authorities have tightened security, including checking of vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, ahead of the 78th Independence Day.
Security personnel were seen carrying out security checks for the safe and smooth conduct of the celebrations.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Udhampur Prahlad Kumar appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity to the police.
โThe Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and other security forces are conducting the security checks apart from the normal security checks conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir police,โ DSP Kumar told ANI.
He added, โWe are checking different vehicles commuting on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. We advise everyone to inform the police if they witness anything suspiciousโฆ.โ
Meanwhile, the Head Post Office in Udhampur took out a โHar Ghar Tirangaโ campaign on Tuesday. The post office staff and its customers participated in the campaign.
Assistant Superintendent of Post, Udhampur Postal Division, Mahesh Singh Jasrotia, told ANI, โThe postal department has participated in the โHar Ghar Tirangaโ campaign. The national flag, โTirangaโ, is available at all the post offices.
