Jammu, Sept 29: Apni Party’s contesting candidate for Vijaypur Assembly Constituency, S Manjit Singh on Sunday accused the National Conference (NC) of making a “secret deal” with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to ensure the latter’s victory in Vijaypur.
“The NC publicly criticises the BJP for gaining the trust of the people, particularly the minorities. The shift of the minority vote bank to NC gives an advantage to the BJP in their stronghold Vijaypur,” the former minister said while addressing public meetings in the constituency.
“The BJP is frustrated with the overwhelming response to the Apni Party and its agenda of equitable development and protection of resources,” Singh said, adding, “Our stance in favour of the general masses has frustrated the BJP and hence, both the parties have entered into a ‘secret alliance’ to ensure that the BJP candidate wins the legislative elections.”
Manjit accused both parties of having a “divisive agenda”. “Attempts are being made by both these parties to mislead the people and exploit their emotions to convert them into votes to return to power. The people of Vijaypur have not forgotten the sufferings of ten years and the agenda of divide and rule that was implemented for decades by both the parties in the last seven decades in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Singh claimed the Apni Party has gained its ground in Vijaypur, saying the people have extended their support to the party’s agenda and policy of welfare for the people to upgrade their living standard.
The former minister appealed to the people to identify “these divisive political parties” and isolate them by extending their support and casting a vote in favour of the Apni Party candidate in the Vijaypur constituency which he claimed is facing negligence for the last several years.
