Srinagar, Nov 6: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary Singh on Wednesday reiterated that the resolution of Article 370 and 35A was a core promise made in their manifesto and vowed to fulfill the commitments made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters outside assembly, Singh said that the decision to bring the resolution in the Legislative Assembly was a move to strengthen the Constitution of India. He highlighted that the removal of Article 370 was not only a political stance but a key issue that had been part of their campaign from the very beginning.
“This was our issue and it was our campaign,” Singh said, highlighting their commitment to fulfill promises made to the people of the JK.
The Deputy Chief Minister also said we want to reminded the Prime Minister and Home Minister of their promises to ensure the security of land and jobs for the residents of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as their promise to restore statehood.
Singh reiterated that his government would continue to press for the restoration of these rights.
“We are committed to securing the future of our youth and have consistently reminded the Prime Minister and the Home Minister of their promises,” Singh said, adding that the government is determined to protect the interests of the local population.
Singh raised concerns about the growing influence of outsiders in the J&K, stating that many contractors and business interests, including wine shops, were now being controlled by outsiders. He expressed concern that these actions threatened the local economy and culture.
“We are trying to save Jammu and Kashmir and uphold the promises we made in the past. We are simply asking for our rights under the Constitution,” he asserted.
