As per official data, Kerala currently accounts for the highest number of active cases at 430, followed by Maharashtra (209), Delhi (104), Gujarat (83), and Karnataka (47). The Health Ministry emphasized that most of these cases are mild and are being managed under home isolation.

On Saturday, Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava conducted a comprehensive review of COVID-19 trends across multiple states, particularly Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. Sources said the central health agencies are actively monitoring the situation through the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Although COVID-19 is now being treated as a regular viral infection, the Union Health Ministry remains alert and continues to track respiratory illnesses. Authorities advise the public to maintain basic precautions such as hand hygiene, wearing masks in crowded areas, and avoiding unnecessary gatherings.
“The majority of cases reported are mild and do not require hospitalisation,” a health ministry official stated, while reiterating that systems are in place to respond swiftly should the situation evolve.
