Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha virtually inaugurated a newly constructed Bailey Bridge on the Ramban–Gool road today, restoring a crucial lifeline for more than 1.5 lakh residents in Ramban, Sangaldan, and Gool who had been severely impacted by recent natural calamities.

Speaking at the inauguration, Sinha described the bridge as a symbol of resilience and hope, highlighting its significance for local communities whose daily lives and economic activities were disrupted by infrastructure damage, road washouts, and isolation caused by flash floods and landslides in recent weeks.

Engineers from the Indian Army undertook the task of constructing the Bailey Bridge despite challenging conditions marked by incessant rainfall, rough terrain, and unstable soil.

Their rapid response and technical expertise ensured the timely completion of the bridge, which now facilitates the movement of essential supplies, emergency services, and regular transport along a road that serves as a vital conduit for residents, businesses, and emergency responders across the region.

The Lieutenant Governor commended the “brave engineers of the Indian Army,” expressing heartfelt gratitude for their dedication, commitment, and service in the face of adversity. He noted that the restoration of connectivity has provided immediate relief to affected communities, rekindled hope among residents, and laid the foundation for long-term recovery and economic development in Ramban, Sangaldan, and Gool.

As the new Bailey Bridge opens for traffic, local residents and authorities celebrate the renewed access and security it brings, marking a turning point in the region’s ongoing efforts to rebuild and prepare for future challenges. The bridge stands as a testament to cooperation between the civil administration and the Army, offering a vital lesson in perseverance and unity.
