Pulwama Admin Intensifies Drive Against Illegal Mining; 53 Vehicles Seized This Month

PULWAMA, NOVEMBER 28: In a joint action by the Department of Geology & Mining, in coordination with Police, Revenue and Flood Control , a crackdown has been launched against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals across the district.
Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, multi-departmental enforcement teams have maintained strict surveillance at vulnerable locations, resulting in the seizure of 53 vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation during the current month. Penalties amounting to Rs. 11.40 lakhs have been imposed on the violators.
Further intensifying the enforcement drive, six more vehicles were seized during night checking on 28th November, with fines amounting to Rs. 73,000 imposed on the offenders.
Reiterating the administration’s zero-tolerance approach, authorities have emphasised that mineral transportation shall be permitted only through valid e-challans and authorised permits. Any violation, they cautioned, will invite strict legal action under the relevant mining laws.
