DC Srinagar inspects progress of infrastructural works at Abhinandan School for Specially Abled Children

SRINAGAR DECEMBER 29:- Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo today visited Abhinandan Home Solina, Kashmir’s oldest institution for specially abled children and inspected progress of infrastructure upgradation works on Rs 9.90 crore project for construction of new, state of the art Educational Complex and School for Specially Abled Children.
He also took stock of the ongoing finishing works of the Hostel-cum-Kitchen Complex being executed at a cost of Rs 1.66 crore for students of Abhinandan Home.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing infrastructure upgradation works for the construction of the School for Specially-Abled Children, being executed at a cost of Rs 9.90 crore.
The project is being developed on a state-of-the-art pattern under the Social Welfare Department and will be the first of its kind institution in the entire Kashmir Division catering specifically to children with visual and hearing special abilities.
While reviewing the progress of the key project, the DC stressed the need for close coordination among all line departments to ensure timely completion of the work. He emphasised the need for added efforts by the executing agency to accelerate the pace of work to complete the project ahead of the scheduled timeline, while maintaining strict adherence to quality standards.
The DC also instructed the executing agency to ensure timely procurement of lifts and completion of internal electrification works for School for Specially Abled Children well in advance to avoid any delay in the overall execution of the project.
On the occasion, the DC was informed that the new facility will comprise a Principal’s Office, Staff Room, Indoor Games Court, Gymnasium, Medical Room, Therapy Room, Classrooms, Washroom Blocks, Computer Lab, Library, Dormitory, and Dining Hall.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the under completion Hostel-cum-Kitchen Complex being executed at a cost of Rs 1.66 crore for students of Abhinandan Home. He directed the executing agency to expedite the finishing works so that the facility is made functional at the earliest.
During the visit, the DC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz; Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar; District Social Welfare Officer, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad; Executive Engineer R&B, Executive Engineer KPDCl, Executive Engineer Water Works, Tehsildar South, Deputy CEO, Officials from Abhinandan Home and other concerned.
