*Weather Alert: Active Western Disturbance to Bring Rain, Snow, Gusty winds & thunderstorms activity in Jammu and Kashmir (from tomorrow till–20 March)*

Under the influence of a fresh Western Disturbance, weather across Jammu and Kashmir is likely to remain unstable and active from tomorrow till 20 March, bringing widespread rain in the plains and snowfall over higher reaches.
The precipitation activity is expected to increase gradually, with the most peak phase likely from the evening or night of 18 March and through 20 March, when many areas may witness persistent wet weather.
Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected over higher elevations, particularly Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Doodhpathri, Gurez, Drass, Zojila, Sinthan Top, Razdan Pass, and Pahalgam, along with other higher higher reaches.
In contrast, most low-lying and plain areas are expected to receive widespread light to moderate rainfall, with no major snowfall forecast.
A few middle-reaches may still experience light snowfall around 19 March if temperatures fall sufficiently, though the chances remain low.
Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and isolated hailstorm activity may also occur at some places during this period, especially in parts of Jammu region.
Overall, weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir are expected to stay variable, wet, with intermittent spells of rain, snow and thunderstorm activity continuing until 20 March.
