Major Livestock Theft Case Solved; 38 Sheep Recovered, 5 Accused Arrested

Awantipora, March 26:
Police Station Tral received a written complaint from one person, namely Rajwali Shah Gojar S/O Shah Wali R/O Dudhkulan Tral, stating that during the intervening night of 16/17 March 2026, some unknown persons had stolen 38 sheep from his cowshed.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 26/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Tral, and investigation was set into motion.
During the course of investigation, Police Awantipora, headed by SHO PS Tral Inspector Tajamul Islam and under the supervision of SDPO Tral, employed modern investigative techniques, including examination and analysis of CCTV footage from multiple locations. These efforts led to the identification and subsequent arrest of the following accused persons Mohd Khalid Bargat S/O Mohd Akbar Bargat R/O Gandoh Khawas Rajouri A/P Hariparigam, Manzoor Ahmad S/O Saadiya Chaneja R/O Karmulla, Shabir Ahmad Chaneja S/O Saadiya Chaneja R/O Karmulla, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Gojar S/O Ab Rashid Gojar R/O Brenpathri and Mohd Yousuf Dar S/O Gh Mohd Dar R/O Jawalapora Budgam.
During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed their involvement in the commission of the offence. On their disclosure, a total of 38 livestock were recovered on 26.03.2026 from Jawalapora, Budgam.
Two more accused persons involvedin the said crime has been identified Farooq Ahmad (R/O Rajouri) and Imtiyaz Ahmad (R/O Dudhkulan Tral), are still at large, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
Additionally, the vehicle bearing registration number JK13G-6966 (Ashok Leyland load carrier), used in the commission of the crime, was also seized.
The accused are presently in police custody.
Further arrests and recoveries are expected as the investigation progresses.
