DC Srinagar reviews status of implementation of PM Surya Muft Bijli Yojana in the district Calls for intensified awareness campaigns and timely loan facilitation

SRINAGAR MARCH 27: To review the implementation status of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo Friday chaired a meeting of KPDCL Engineers, Banks and other line departments here at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Executive Engineers of KPDCL, Zonal Head J&K Bank, Lead District Manager(Banks) and empanelled vendors of the scheme.
During the meeting, the DC who is also the Chairman Monitoring and Management Committee of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana held detailed deliberations on the progress of rooftop solar installations being carried out under the flagship scheme aimed at promoting clean energy and reducing electricity expenses for households.
At the outset, the DC took a detailed division-wise and bank-wise assessment of performance, focusing on targets achieved, applications received and installations completed across all four electric divisions of Srinagar.
On the occasion, the DC emphasized the importance of public awareness and asked all four divisions of KPDCL to launch aggressive Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign on the benefits of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. He directed the department to organize mega awareness camps with concerted efforts to mobilize registered applicants and make them aware of the long-term benefits of this beneficiary-oriented scheme.
While banks were impressed upon to ensure faster banking facilitation and improving the loan disbursement to enable timely installation of solar rooftops and expedite overall scheme implementation. The DC also directed KPDCL to widely publicize the dedicated phone numbers across all Electric divisions of the District, ensuring that consumers can easily access information, register queries and receive timely assistance regarding the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
During the meeting, the DC underscored the multiple benefits of rooftop solar installations. He said that rooftop solar installations not only reduce household electricity expenses but also promote environmental sustainability and contribute to overall public welfare.
The meeting was informed that more than 4,600 solar rooftops have been installed in the district so far under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
