Strong Winds and Unseasonal Weather Disrupt Life Across Kashmir; One Injured in Sumbal Incident

Srinagar, May 4: Strong winds accompanied by changing weather conditions swept across various parts of the Kashmir Valley on Monday, causing damage to trees and minor disruptions in several areas.
In a significant incident near Sumbal Bridge, a willow tree was uprooted due to intense gusty winds and collapsed, injuring a non-local resident who was passing through the area. Local authorities and residents immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the injured person to a nearby hospital, where he is stated to be under treatment.
Meanwhile, several parts of the Valley also witnessed sudden weather fluctuations, with reports of rainfall accompanied by strong winds in Srinagar and adjoining areas. In the higher reaches, including Peer Ki Gali, fresh snowfall was reported, adding to the seasonal weather uncertainty.
The sudden change in weather led to minor damage to trees and overhead structures in some areas, though no major disruption to normal life has been reported so far. Authorities have advised people to remain cautious, especially during windy conditions, as more unstable weather is likely in the coming hours.
Meteorological officials are monitoring the situation and have indicated that intermittent rain and gusty winds may continue across parts of the Valley.
