*Anantnag Police Cracks Down on Narcotics Cultivation; 11 Narco Cultivators Arrested by PS Srigufwara*
Anantnag, 07 May 2026:Continuing its intensified crackdown against illegal narcotics cultivation across the district, Anantnag Police today arrested eleven accused involved in multiple cases related to illegal cultivation of opium poppy registered at Police Station Srigufwara.
The accused persons, involved in various NDPS cases pertaining to unlawful cultivation of opium poppy in different areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Srigufwara, were formally arrested after completion of necessary legal formalities.
The action forms part of the ongoing district-wide drive launched by Anantnag Police to curb narcotics cultivation and dismantle the ecosystem promoting drug abuse and trafficking. Investigations in the cases are underway and further legal proceedings are being carried out as per law.
Anantnag Police remains committed towards strict enforcement of the NDPS Act and appeals to the general public to cooperate with police by sharing information regarding illegal cultivation, drug trafficking or substance abuse for timely and stringent legal action.
