_Action Against Illegal Mining;_ *J&K Police In Shopian Seized 05 Vehicles; 02 FIRs Registered*

August 19: Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining, police in Shopian seized four tractors and one tipper in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from different areas of the district.
During routine patrolling, a police party from Police Post Hermain seized two tractors found engaged in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without mandatory permission. In this regard, FIR No. 165/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered in Police Station Shopian and investigation has been initiated.
In a similar action, a police party from Police Station Shopian intercepted and seized two tractors and one tipper carrying mining material without valid royalty documents. FIR No.166/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Shopian and further investigation is underway.
Police reiterated its firm commitment to protecting the district’s natural resources and taking strict legal action against individuals involved in illegal mining activities. The general public has been urged to cooperate with the police and report any such unlawful activities. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
