*August 22:* “`In a swift and successful investigation, J&K Police in Sopore has solved a robbery case with the arrest of the accused and recovery of the stolen gold earrings.
On 04-08-2026, Police Post Bus Stand Sopore received a complaint from a woman resident of Seelo, Sopore, stating that an unknown person had deceitfully taken her from Bus Stand Sopore towards Amargarh, where he allegedly threatened her with a knife and forcibly took away her gold earrings. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 192/2026 under Section 309(4) of the BNS was registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation was taken up.
During the course of investigation, police examined several suspects and conducted sustained investigative efforts. Based on the evidence and other leads developed during the investigation, the accused was identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Majeed Bhat, resident of Yunsoo, Langate, Handwara, who was subsequently arrested. Further investigation led to the recovery of the stolen gold earrings at the instance of the accused. The recovered property has been seized in accordance with due legal procedure. Further investigation is underway to complete all necessary legal formalities and ascertain other relevant aspects of the case.
