*NIA Conducts Searches at Five Locations Across Five States in Cyber Terrorism Gujarat Case*
Digital Devices, Laptops and Mobile Phones Seized During Searches; Probe Into DDoS Attacks on 54 Government Websites Continues
NEW DELHI, AUGUST 24 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday conducted searches at five locations across five states/regions, including Junnar in Pune (Maharashtra), Nadiad in Kheda (Gujarat), Ramagundam in Karimnagar (Telangana), Gopalganj (Bihar) and Delhi, as part of its ongoing investigation into the Cyber Terrorism Gujarat Case.
The searches were carried out in connection with Case RC-01/2025/NIA/AMD, registered by the NIA on June 25, 2025, following the investigation into alleged cyber attacks targeting critical government digital infrastructure.
According to the NIA, the accused persons had allegedly attempted sophisticated Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks against 54 websites of Government of India entities during the period of Operation Sindoor.
The alleged cyber attacks were directed at critical computer resources and Critical Information Infrastructure (CII), with investigators suspecting that the perpetrators intended to compromise national sovereignty, security and unity and create public fear.
The case was initially registered by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Gujarat) and was subsequently taken up for investigation by the NIA. Two accused persons have already been arrested in connection with the case.
Technical Investigation Identifies Suspected Support Network
During the course of its investigation, the NIA carried out detailed technical analysis to identify individuals suspected of providing support, assistance, preparation and skill-upgradation to the arrested accused for carrying out the alleged DDoS attacks.
Following the identification of these suspects, the agency conducted searches at their premises after obtaining search warrants from the competent court.
During the searches, investigators seized several digital devices and documents allegedly containing incriminating material related to hacking activities.
The seizures included three laptops, five mobile phones and other digital devices, including pen drives, which were taken into custody in accordance with due legal procedure.
The suspects were also examined by the investigating agency regarding their alleged association with the already arrested accused persons and their suspected role in providing technical assistance connected with the cyber attacks.
The NIA said that further investigation in the case is continuing.
The agency is expected to examine the seized digital material and other evidence to establish the complete network, technical infrastructure and possible roles of individuals allegedly linked to the cyber attacks.(KNC)
