Action Against Illegal Mining J&K police seized 7 vehicles in Shopian; 02 FIRs registered

September 07: Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining, Police in Shopian have seized six tractors and a tipper involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from different areas of the district.
During routine patrolling, a police party from Police Station Zainapora intercepted and seized one tipper and four tractors while they were allegedly engaged in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without valid royalty documents. In this connection, FIR No. 116/2026 registered at Police Station Zainapora under relevant provisions of law and investigations have been initiated.
In similar action, police party from Police Station Shopian intercepted and seized two tractors involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without royalty documents. In this regard FIR No. 186/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Shopian and further investigation has been initiated.
J&K Police reiterated its firm commitment to protecting the districts natural resources and taking strict legal action against individuals involved in illegal mining activities. The general public has been urged to cooperate with the police and report any such unlawful activities. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
