Sakeena Itoo Announces 5% Annual Increment for Eligible NHM Contractual Employees Across J&K

Srinagar, November 7: In a significant welfare initiative for the healthcare workforce, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned a 5% annual increment for eligible contractual employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM) for the financial year 2026–27.
The decision has been formalised through Order No. 160 NHM J&K of 2026, dated November 7, issued by the Mission Director, NHM J&K.
The initiative reflects the sustained efforts and commitment of Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Health & Medical Education and Social Welfare, Miss Sakeena Masood Itoo, towards improving the welfare, financial security and service conditions of healthcare employees who form the backbone of the public health system.
The decision has been taken under the broader healthcare and employee-welfare vision of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, whose government has consistently emphasised strengthening public healthcare infrastructure while recognising the contribution of frontline healthcare workers.
The benefit will cover eligible NHM contractual staff at State, Divisional, District and Block levels, including NUHM and Disease Control Programmes, subject to satisfactory performance and completion of one year of service.
As per the order, the increment will take effect from April 1, 2026, October 1, 2026, or April 1, 2027, depending on the employee’s qualifying service period.
The move is expected to provide meaningful financial relief, boost employee morale and reaffirm the government’s commitment to recognising the dedication and invaluable contribution of NHM personnel in delivering healthcare services across Jammu and Kashmir.
