Tarun Chugh slams Er Rashid, says his actions only fuelled instability

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Tarun Chugh Friday lashed out at Engineer Rashid over his “divisive politics”, which according to him is causing a hurdle in regional development.

Chugh, however, talked about BJP’s anti-terror stand and said the party is committed for peace as well as development in the region. “We have zero tolerance on terror and won’t compromise as far as development of this region is concerned,” Chugh said as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

Speaking during the gathering, Chugh told reporters he has declared a political war against established political families in Jammu and Kashmir, blaming the people for their long-time dominance in the region over the political families like Abdullahs and Muftis. “This is in tune with a plan for the BJP to challenge those traditional political leaders and gain muscle over the region,” he said.

Chugh said that Engineer Rashid, Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) chief was only fanning regional fissures and unrest to succeed politically. “Rashid’s actions have only fuelled instability and division,” Chugh said.

He also referred to Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi, saying their policies failed in the region. “We need to improve those mistakes made in the past. We are committed to a new era of peace and development,” Chugh said—(KNO)
