MeT predicts mainly dry, clear weather till Oct 18

Srinagar, Oct 12: The Meteorological Department (MeT) has forecasted a prolonged period of dry and clear weather conditions for the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir for the next 6 days in the region.
Director MeT Srinagar Centre, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said from Sunday onward, they were expecting mainly dry and clear weather till October 18. Brief spells of rain and thunderstorms at isolated places can’t be ruled out during the same period, he said.
“The upcoming weather pattern indicates that the region will experience predominantly dry weather with above-average temperatures for the next 7 days. This prolonged spell of clear and dry conditions is expected to prevail across Jammu & Kashmir,” he said.
“From Oct 18-19, weather will remain generally cloudy with light rain at few higher reaches and isolated places of Jammu division,” he said.
Dr. Mukhtar, further, said these weather conditions would be highly conducive for harvesting activities and various outdoor pursuits. Local residents and farmers can expect a period of clear skies and sunny days during this period, he added.
Meanwhile, Valley experienced a significant drop in temperatures, Shopian recorded night temperature at 1.9 °C, Sonamarg and Bandipora both at 3.9 °C, and Pulwama at 3.5 °C. Anantnag recorded a temperature of 3.2 °C, Baramulla reached 6.5 °C, and Budgam noted 4.3 °C.
In an advisory, Jammu and Kashmir traffic police said subject to fair weather and better road conditions LMVs Passenger/Private Cars/HMVs shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
“Vehicular movement (only LMVs) on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road shall be allowed from both sides viz from Anantnag towards Kishtwar and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from Daksum and Chingam (Chatroo) between 0800 hrs to 1500 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing,” it said.
The spokesman said traffic movement on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, LMVs shall be allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar at 0600 hrs. to 1130 hrs. Similarly HMVs shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil at 1330 hrs to 1900 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing, he said.
Meanwhile vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs upto 10 tyres) on Mughal road shall be allowed from both sides viz. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.
“These vehicles shall be allowed from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) at 0600 hrs. upto 1800 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut of timing,” it said
