Five killed in car-tanker lorry smash, TN CM announces solatium

Chennai, Nov 17 (UNI) Five people, including two couples were killed, when the

car in which they were travelling collided with a tanker lorry at Manakadavu

village near Dharapuram in Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu on Thursday night.

Police sources said the victims were returning home after attending a wedding

event at Palani in Dindugul district when the tragedy occurred.

The deceased included three women.

While four people, including the two couples Balakrishnan (65) and his wife

Selvi (50) and Tamil Mani (50) and his wife Chitra (45), were killed on the spot,

one person died after being shifted to Dharapuram government hospital for

treatment.

The other deceased was identified as Ms Kalarani (55).

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister expressed deep grief and anguish over the deaths

and announced a solatium of Rs two lakh to the families of the deceased.
