Political Unity, Self-Reliance Key to India’s Progress: PM Modi on Dussehra
Urges Parties to Unite for National Interest; Highlights Good Governance, Self-Reliance and the Ideals of Lord Ram

New Delhi, October 21 (KNC): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon all political parties and national institutions to work together in the larger interest of the country, stressing that national unity, public welfare and the fulfilment of people’s aspirations must remain the foremost priorities.
Addressing Vijaya Dashami celebrations in New Delhi on Tuesday, Modi urged citizens to embrace the principle of “Nation First” and collectively work towards safeguarding India’s interests, strengthening national unity and overcoming challenges through collective determination.
The Prime Minister said that forces harming the country’s interests, dividing society and displaying hostility towards India’s cultural heritage should be recognised as challenges to the nation’s unity and progress.
Emphasising the importance of cooperation among political parties, Modi said all institutions and political organisations must work with a shared commitment to national interests rather than allowing differences to obstruct the country’s development.
Quoting a Sanskrit verse, he called for unity in thought and action, urging political parties and institutions to move forward together in the interest of the nation.
Women’s Reservation Bill Remains a Key Issue
The Prime Minister’s appeal comes amid the Centre’s efforts to build political consensus on the proposed constitutional amendment linked to women’s reservation and delimitation.
The proposed legislation has become an important point of political discussion, with the government seeking support for its passage and opposition parties raising concerns over the process and the need for wider consultations.
Modi’s remarks underline the government’s emphasis on cooperation among political parties on matters it considers important for the country’s future.
‘Ram Rajya’ Represents Justice and Equal Opportunities
Referring to the ideals of Lord Ram, Modi said the concept of Ram Rajya continues to represent good governance, justice, equality and public welfare.
He said governance should ensure that no individual faces discrimination, everyone receives justice and citizens have equal opportunities to progress.
The Prime Minister stressed that the purpose of power should not merely be to exercise authority but to serve the public and fulfil people’s aspirations.
He urged citizens and public institutions to draw inspiration from Lord Ram’s life and values to strengthen the country’s social and national fabric.
Calls for Self-Reliance and Confidence in India’s Strength
Modi also reiterated his government’s commitment to building a self-reliant India, urging people to place confidence in the country’s resources, capabilities and collective efforts.
He said even the most difficult challenges should not discourage the nation from pursuing its objectives, adding that determination, hard work and faith in indigenous capabilities were essential for progress.
The Prime Minister said Lord Ram’s life teaches that obstacles cannot bring a determined journey to a halt and that success can be achieved through courage, unity and perseverance.
Dussehra Message of Truth and Humanity
Highlighting the significance of Dussehra, Modi said the festival symbolises the victory of good over evil and reinforces the values of truth, courage and humanity.
He said the message of the festival should inspire people to remain steadfast in the face of adversity, adding that truth and humanity ultimately prevail when people stand united for the right cause.
Modi further emphasised the importance of preserving India’s heritage and cultural identity, saying national self-respect plays a significant role in shaping the country’s progress and collective confidence.
The Prime Minister’s address centred on national unity, political cooperation, self-reliance and the need for all sections of society to work towards a stronger and more prosperous India. (KNC)
