Kupwara Police Arrests Drug Peddler with Charas-Like Substance – FIR Registered Under NDPS Act

Kupwara, June 30, 2025:
As part of its ongoing drive against drug trafficking and its commitment to a drug-free society, Kupwara Police achieved a significant success today by apprehending a drug peddler along the Kawari-Nathnussa bridge area.

A naka was established by the police party of Police Post Dragmulla during which a suspicious individual was intercepted and subjected to thorough checking. The individual was identified as Amjid Rathi son of Mir Wali Rathi a resident of Zachaldara, Handwara.

Upon his search the naka party recovered a charas-like substance from his possession. Consequently case FIR No. 194/2025 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned Police Station and investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and network behind the consignment.
