
Srinagar, Oct 18: Weather department here on Tuesday forecast isolated light rain and thunders over Jammu and Kashmir during next 24 hours.
For subsequent two days, a meteorological department official here told GNS that there is possibility of βscattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rain or snowβ in J&K.
However, the weatherman reiterated that βthere’s no forecast of any major snowfall for the next one week to 10 days in J&K and Ladakh.β
Regarding minimum temperature, the MeT official said that Srinagar recorded a low of 7.0Β°C against 7.4Β°C on the previous night. The temperature was 1.9Β°C above normal for the summer capital during this time of the year, he said.
Qazigund recorded a low of 6.0Β°C against 5.0Β°C on the previous four consecutive nights. The temperature was 1.6Β°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.
In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 4.5Β°C against 2.6Β°C on the previous night and it was 3.0Β°C above normal for the south Kashmir resort, he said.
Kokernag recorded a low of 6.1Β°C against 7.0Β°C on the previous night and it was 0.2Β°C above normal for the place, he said.
Gulmarg recorded a low of 2.2Β°C against 4.0Β°C on the previous night and it was 0.7Β°C below normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmirβs Baramulla district.
In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 5.6Β°C against 4.7Β°C on the previous night, the official said. It was 1.1Β°C above normal for the north Kashmir place, he said.
Jammu recorded a low of 18.2Β°C against 18.0Β°C on the previous night. It was 0.9Β°C above normal for J&Kβs winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of8.4Β°C, Batote 10.2Β°C, Katra 16.3Β°C and BhadarwahΒ 8.1Β°C.Β (GNS)
