Srinagar, Jan 16, : Train services between Budgam and Banihal were canceled on Thursday following heavy snowfall across parts of the Kashmir Valley.
The Railway authorities told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that train operating between Budgam and Banihal, along with its link train running between Banihal and Budgam, were suspended due to adverse weather conditions.
“The snowfall, particularly heavy between Banihal and Awantipora, has made it unsafe for trains to operate,” they said.
They said that the decision was taken to ensure passenger safety and prevent any potential disruptions caused by snow accumulation on the tracks.
The cancellation of train services impacted connectivity within the Valley, particularly affecting commuters who rely on these trains for daily travel. Authorities said that services will resume once weather conditions improve and the tracks are deemed safe for operations.
