Northern Railway is monitoring crowd of passengers, travelling to their native places to celebrate the festival of Chhath, at major railway stations.

Northern Railway has made elaborate arrangements at major stations of Delhi Area for the convenience of passengers, especially those travelling to the Eastern parts of the country to celebrate the festival of Chhath. A permanent Holding area has been commissioned at New Delhi Railway Station. Additionally temporary holding area (Tentage) has been setup at New Delhi and Anand Vihar Terminal railway stations. These holding areas are provided with UTS ticket counters, toilets, ATVMs, Catering stalls, May I Help You Booths, PA system, etc. Adequate railway staff are guiding and helping the passengers. Ensuring a Safe and Healthy Journey During the Festive Season. With the motto “Safe and Healthy Journey,” the Medical Department of Delhi Division has taken proactive steps to ensure passenger well-being during the ongoing festive rush. The First Aid Booths have been established at major railway stations — New Delhi (four booths including at Yatri Suvidha Kendra), Old Delhi, Anand Vihar Terminal, Hazrat Nizamudin, Shakurbasti and Ghaziabad — each of these stations equipped with ambulances and trained medical teams to provide round-the-clock assistance. These facilities have provided timely medical help ranging from first aid to emergency (including safe delivery of baby at New Delhi railway station on 18.10.2025) benefiting more than 634 railway passengers between 16th October 2025 and 21st October 2025. Civil Defence personnel and Northern Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides personnel are deployed at the major railway stations of Delhi area and they are constantly guiding and assisting the passengers, especially the Sr. Citizens, Divyangjans, Ladies, etc.

On 21.10.2025, 1,69,986 Unreserved outward passengers boarded from the 6 major stations of Delhi area -New Delhi, Delhi Jn., Anand Vihar Terminal, Hazrat Nizamudin, Shakurbasti and Ghaziabad i.e. an increase of 5.62 % as compared to corresponding date of last year (next day of Diwali 01.11.2024). Similarly on 22.10.2025, 1,71,753 Unreserved outward passengers boarded from the 6 major stations of Delhi area I.e. an increase of 7.01% as compared to corresponding date of last year (2nd day after Diwali 02.11.2024).

Today, 30 Special trains (9 from New Delhi, 3 from Delhi Jn., 8 from Anand Vihar Terminal, 3 from Hazrat Nizamudin, 5 from Shakurbasti, 1 from Rohtak and 1 from Shamli) were scheduled to originate from the major stations of Delhi area apart from 6 passing Special trains. Tomorrow, on 24rd October, 17 special trains are scheduled to operate from major stations in Delhi Area.
