Technical Glitch in Delhi ATC Disrupts Flights; Mumbai, Other Airports Hit
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai on Friday (November 7, 2025) issued an advisory warning passengers of potential flight delays after a major technical glitch in Delhi’s Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) disrupted air traffic operations.
The impact has now begun to ripple across other major airports, including Mumbai, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Varanasi, as outgoing flights from Delhi face cascading delays, according to the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The glitch, which crippled the system that supports Air Traffic Control (ATC) and flight planning, led to massive delays at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport — affecting over 300 domestic and international flights.
The AAI confirmed that flight controllers in Delhi are currently processing flight plans manually after the system malfunctioned. “Technical teams are working to restore the system at the earliest,” it said.
Sources told CNN-News18 that the problem could be linked to a possible malware-induced overload in the automation software, though investigations are still ongoing. Major carriers including IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air have all reported delays in their operations.
