*Freezing Water on Road Causes Accident Near Dal Lake Ghat, Three Vehicles Pile UP*
Srinagar, Nov 29, A multi-vehicle collision occurred on Saturday morning near Ghat No. 25 on the Nishat–Dalgate road axis in Srinagar after freezing water on the roadway created extremely slippery conditions, officials said.
A police official told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that three vehicles heading from Nishat toward Dalgate collided with one another after losing control on an icy stretch near the lakeside ghat. The vehicles involved in the incident included a military vehicle bearing registration number 54 QAT, a Maruti Alto with registration number JK01R 5659, and an Innova car.
He said that freezing water flowing across the road during the night had turned into a thick layer of ice by early morning, making the surface dangerous for traffic. As vehicles approached the bend near Ghat No. 25, multiple drivers failed to brake in time, resulting in a chain collision.
