PULWAMA POLICE FOILS DRUG SMUGGLING BID; TWO HELD WITH CONTRABAND, VEHICLE SEIZED

Pulwama, April 13: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, Pulwama Police achieved a significant success during routine naka checking.

A police party from Police Station Kakapora established a naka at Kandizal near the NH-44 underpass. During the checking process, a suspicious vehicle (Innova) bearing registration number JK02DA-4166, traveling from the highway towards Pampora, was intercepted.

The vehicle was being driven by Liyaqat Ali S/o Nazir Ahmad Akla, resident of Nagrota, Jammu, accompanied by Amanat Ali S/o Ghulam Mustafa, resident of Nagrota, Jammu.

Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, a polythene bag was recovered from the dicky. Examination of the bag revealed two packets of contraband substances, including approximately 533 grams of poppy straw and 20 charas sticks weighing around 735 grams.

Both accused persons were immediately taken into custody, and the vehicle used in the commission of the offence has also been seized.

In this regard, a case FIR No. 31/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Kakapora, and further investigation is underway.

Pulwama Police reiterates its firm commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society and urges the general public to cooperate and share any information related to drug trafficking.
