Justice Rajnish Oswal inaugurates newly developed facilities at District Court Complex Kathua
Emphasises strengthening of judicial infrastructure for efficient justice delivery

KATHUA, APRIL 13: Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and Administrative Judge for Kathua district Justice Rajnish Oswal today visited the District Court Complex Kathua and dedicated newly constructed facilities including 36 Lawyer chambers, a hall and a canteen to the legal fraternity.
In his inaugural address, Justice Rajnish Oswal congratulated all stakeholders and observed that the newly created advocate chambers would go a long way in facilitating the legal fraternity and enhancing access to justice for the common man. He lauded the efforts of Principal District & Sessions Judge Jatinder Singh Jamwal and appreciated the Bar for the smooth and hassle-free distribution of chambers.
Responding to the issues projected by the Bar Association, Justice Oswal assured that the demand for lift facilities would be examined. He informed that fire audit processes for court complexes have already been initiated. Regarding mobile connectivity issues arising due to security restrictions near the District Jail, he assured that the matter would be looked into without compromising security considerations and suggested exploring local Wi-Fi systems as a possible solution.
He further informed that the court complex at Basohli is nearing completion and will be dedicated shortly.
Earlier, Principal District & Sessions Judge Jatinder Singh Jamwal, in his welcome address, termed the present period as a “golden phase” for the judiciary in Kathua, highlighting significant infrastructural reforms. He informed that new court complex buildings have been established at Kathua and Hiranagar, while similar infrastructure is in the pipeline for Basohli and Billawar in the coming times.
President, District Bar Association Advocate Y.C. Katoch appreciated the sustained efforts of Justice Rajnish Oswal, the present Administrative Judge for Kathua and Justice Sanjeev Kumar, former Administrative Judge for Kathua, for prioritizing infrastructural augmentation and strengthening of the judicial delivery system. He reiterated the Bar Association’s continued support for such welfare measures. He also projected demands including installation of lift facilities, strengthening of fire-fighting systems and addressing mobile connectivity issues in the court complex owing to restrictions near the District Jail.
Advocate Nidhi Suman also expressed gratitude to the higher judiciary, particularly the Administrative Judge and the District & Sessions Judge, for the initiatives that have provided much-needed relief to the advocates, who had been facing difficulties in the absence of adequate chamber facilities.
