*10th Muharram (Ashura) Observed as a Day of Remembrance and Sacrifice*

Srinagar, 26 June : Muslims around the world observe the 10th of Muharram (Ashura) with devotion and respect. On this day, the great martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S.), members of his Ahlul Bayt, and his loyal companions in the plains of Karbala is remembered.
Among the members of Ahlul Bayt who were martyred in Karbala were Hazrat Ali Akbar ibn Husayn, Hazrat Ali Asghar ibn Husayn, Hazrat Abbas ibn Ali, Hazrat Qasim ibn Hasan, Hazrat Aun ibn Abdullah, Hazrat Muhammad ibn Abdullah, and other close relatives and loyal companions, who sacrificed their lives alongside Imam Hussain (A.S.) for truth and justice.
Despite severe thirst, hardships, and the overwhelming number of enemies, Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his companions firmly upheld their stand for truth, justice, and human dignity. Their sacrifice made Ashura an everlasting example of courage, patience, faith, and resistance against oppression.
On this occasion, majalis, prayers, and mourning processions are organized at various places to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala.
The tragedy of Karbala is a great and important chapter in Islamic history, and the message of Imam Hussain (A.S.) remains a shining example of truth, justice, and steadfast faith for generations to come.–(BAN)
