*Anantnag Police Apprehends 4 Drug Peddlers in 2 Separate Operations; Over 10.2 Kg Narcotics Seized*

In its continuing drive against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police arrested four persons and seized over 10.2 kg of narcotics in two separate operations today.
1. *PP Janglatmandi*: During naka checking at Ashajipora Janglatmandi, three persons attempted to flee on seeing the police party but were tactfully apprehended. Upon search, a total of 2.242 kg cannabis powder was recovered from their possession. The accused have been identified as Arshid Ahmad Wani S/O Gh. Mohiuddin Wani R/O Batengoo Anantnag, Muzaffar Ahmad Mir S/O Mohd Maqbool Mir R/O Batengoo Anantnag and Mohd Rafiq Sofi S/O Gh. Hasan Sofi R/O Zadoora Mirbazar. Case FIR No. 110/2026 U/S 8/20,29 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Anantnag and investigation has been initiated.
2. *PS Kokernag*: A naka party deputed towards Buchoo and adjoining areas for checking apprehended one person at Danwathpora who was roaming under suspicious circumstances and attempted to flee on seeing the police. He was identified as Ali Mohd Mochi S/o Ghulam Qadir Mochi R/o Buchoo Kokernag. Search of a nylon bag being carried by him led to recovery of charas powder-like substance weighing about 8 kg. The accused was arrested on the spot and contraband seized as per procedure. Case FIR No. 26/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Kokernag.
Anantnag Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against the drug menace. Stringent action against peddlers will continue to protect society, especially the youth, from the ill effects of drugs. General public is requested to share information regarding drug peddling in their areas. Identity of informers will be kept confidential.
