Three Drug Peddlers Held in Kulgam, Contraband Recovered in Two NDPS Cases

Kulgam, March 15: In its continued crackdown against drug trafficking, Kulgam Police on Sunday arrested three alleged drug peddlers in two separate operations and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
According to police officials, during a routine naka checking at Khudwani on the National Highway, two individuals attempted to evade the checking party but were swiftly apprehended by the police. Upon their search, police recovered 1.2 kilograms of charas from the possession of Ranjeet Singh, son of Dilbeer Singh, a resident of Maratal Wandi, Amritsar. Additionally, 0.86 grams of brown sugar and 57 grams of charas were recovered from Jobin, son of Major Singh, a resident of Meno Wali, Amritsar.
In connection with the seizure, FIR No. 24/2026 under sections 8/20/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Qaimoh, and both accused have been taken into custody for further investigation.
In another operation, police during naka checking at Khrewan–Lassipora intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee after noticing the police party. However, the alert naka team managed to apprehend him tactfully. During the search, 205 grams of charas-like substance in powder form was recovered from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Idrees Ahmad Ganai, son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganai, a resident of Furrah. In this regard, a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Qazigund, and further investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, Kulgam Police reiterated its commitment to eliminating the menace of drugs from society and urged the public, particularly parents and youth, to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing any information related to drug peddling or substance abuse. Police assured that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential.
