Interns Continue Protest Across J&K GMCs, SKIMS Bemina; AIMSA Says Strike to Persist Until Written Stipend Hike Order

Srinagar, Oct 21: The All India Medical Students’ Association (AIMSA) has announced that the protest by MBBS and BDS interns will continue today across all Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) in Jammu and Kashmir and SKIMS Medical College, Bemina, until the official written government order confirming the stipend hike is issued.
AIMSA representatives Dr Danish Ali and Dr Farhan of GMC Srinagar, along with Dr Jabran Khan of GMC Rajouri, reiterated that the interns would not call off their protest on the basis of verbal assurances alone. The association maintained its firm stand: “No Written Order, No End to Protest.”
The association further stated that its Joint Secretary, Dr Akib Javid, received a call yesterday from the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) regarding the stipend hike. AIMSA acknowledged the communication but emphasized that the protest would continue until the official government order is formally issued and handed over to the interns.
Dr Mohammad Momin Khan, President of AIMSA said that repeated delays and assurances in the past had eroded the interns’ trust in verbal commitments. He asserted that the association would not call off the agitation until the written government order is issued to the interns.
AIMSA urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to complete the remaining formalities without further delay and honour its commitment to MBBS and BDS interns. The association reaffirmed that the protest would continue peacefully across all GMCs and SKIMS Bemina until the demand for a formal written order is fulfilled.
