Asia’s largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar expected to bloom with 1.7 Million bulbs, two new varieties from the Netherlands; Likely to open after March 20

Srinagar, Feb 25 : The world-famous Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, nestled in the foothills of the Zabarwan Range overlooking Dal Lake, is likely to open for tourists after March 20.

This year, the garden will showcase a breathtaking display of 1.7 million tulip bulbs, including two new exotic varieties imported from the Netherlands.

Spread over 30 hectares, the Tulip Garden is the largest in Asia and a major attraction for visitors in Jammu and Kashmir.

The garden boasts over 70 varieties of tulips, adding vibrant hues to the landscape as spring arrives in the Valley.

The introduction of new tulip varieties is expected to further enhance its beauty, attracting a record number of tourists and nature lovers.

The Tulip Garden has become a key driver of tourism in Srinagar, with thousands of visitors arriving each year to witness the short yet mesmerizing bloom.

Authorities anticipate a significant rise in footfall, especially with improved connectivity and promotional efforts. The influx of tourists is expected to benefit local businesses, including hotels, handicraft vendors, and houseboat operators.

The Floriculture Department is working on final touches, ensuring better pathways, enhanced visitor facilities, and extended viewing areas. The government has also taken measures to maintain the delicate ecosystem of the garden, promoting eco-friendly tourism.
